In July, 2002 I rented a 4x4 and drove from San Jose south to
Golfito taking the Pacific coast route. Golfito is just above the
border of Panama. Along the way I visited Quepos and
Dominical.
The following photos were taken while driving the back, mostly
dirt, road from Golfito to Drake Bay on the beautiful Osa
Peninsula. Truly and exciting and beautiful drive. It appeared that I
was the only car to drive down that road for some time. Most people
get to Darkes Bay by boat. Driving the back road
requires crossing some spooky rivers and flimsy bridges. It was
the only place in Costa Rica where I seen truly unspoiled wildlife.
